InFocus Edmonton 2024
This annual exhibition of photography was the brain child of Artist and Curator Alexis Marie Chute and her husband Aaron Chute. Every year since 2015, they have been coordinating an exhibition of photography.
Initially Alexis identified with the fact that artists have difficulty getting their work seen. Galleries are reluctant to show the work of artists that have not been exhibited much or at all. But you can’t get any experience or recognition as an artist, if you can’t get your work shown. The old chicken or the egg scenario. This event was to promote and exhibit innovative, thoughtful and provocative photography created by contemporary image makers.
In Focus Photo Exhibit made its debut in the Annex Building of Harcourt House Artist Run Center. The first exhibition showcased Edmonton and area photographers over three days. Monochrome Guild founder Rob Pohl has had his photography accepted at the first event, and most of these events ever since.
As the years progressed, other Monochrome Guild members found their work accepted and shown as well. As time progressed the event has grown well beyond an Edmonton exhibition and in recent years has included work from photographers from all over the world.
Flash forward to early 2024 and InFocus was celebrating its 10th Anniversary. Monochrome Guild members Arturo Pianzola, Steve Wreakes and Rob Pohl had photographs included in the exhibition.
In celebration of the anniversary, a book entitled “Moments in Focus” was published. This book is available to purchase from the publishers website at (new tabs) Wild Skies Press or from the exhibition website at InFocusPhoto
